If you didn’t make it to the Iowa Deer Classic this last weekend, you missed a good time! There were a lot of new names and the show had some changes this year, including added floor space for more exhibitors. I’ve said it many times at auctions and I’ll repeat it here: There are many places I’d love to go in the world but on auction day I want to be at the auction! On Sunday we conducted the Whitetail Properties Iowa Deer Classic Auction and had a great time putting it on. All of the proceeds go to the Iowa DNR’s Mentored Outdoor Experience program here in Iowa. The program introduces youth and their mentor to hunting and can provide things that they need to become a hunter. We are very proud of the fact that the Iowa Deer Classic Auction has raised nearly $40,000 since March 2009! Isn’t that an amazing figure when you consider that the program used to operate on $4000 per year before we went to them and said “Let us raise some money for you” .
A special thank you to the Iowa Deer Classic for allowing us to conduct the auction and for donating display space throughout the show to display all of the items that would be on the auction. A huge thanks to the sponsors of Whitetail Properties TV, along with the exhibitors at the Iowa Deer Classic for donating items to be sold. Sportsmen and women are amazingly compassionate people with a strong desire for our heritage to continue. The Iowa Deer Classic ensures that the money is there to make it happen.

Steve Morehead was a guest auctioneer at the auction on Sunday. Steve has an interesting antler auction in Eastern Iowa every March known as the Iowa Whitetail Classic. Steve’s auction and sports show has grown huge in the last few years and it is the place to sell antlers and taxidermy. His show will be coming up very soon so check him out at www.CircleMAuctions.com on the web.
Despite a hoarse voice and a sore throat on Sunday, Chad took the microphone and sold a few items. This is an auction we look forward to every year and he didn’t want to miss out on a little selling. Jeremy Atkins from Big N J Industries helped ring the auction this year. I love Jeremy’s booming voice! When he has a bid, you KNOW it!
Every auction has a magical time for the auctioneer and in this auction the moment was captured at the very moment it happened. One of the biggest draws on this auction was an Iowa Governors any-sex deer tag. This highly sought after tag sold for $8000 at the auction on Sunday. The tag is donated by the Iowa DNR and the $8000 will go to great use! A huge thank you to the bidders on this item, you were all a lot of fun and I look forward to it again next year.
Finally, I had to have a shot of your own DreamDirt auctioneer’s working together or this post would never be complete. At the end of a long weekend, the auction was a great way to end a great show on a high note. Again, thanks to all the bidders at the auction because without you none of this is possible.
