Guthrie County Iowa Farmland Auction Results

On Monday September 25th we conduct a farmland auction in Guthrie County at Casey Iowa.  This high selling farm real estate broke most peoples expectations at auction.

This auction followed a farmland auction that brought $14,100 per acre on level tillable farmland 11 miles away near Panora.  In total 4 tracts of land were offered for sale, all breaking $100 per CSR2 point on tillable acres reaching $102, $144 and $164 per CSR2 point.  This points to a continued strong interest in farmland and says something about certain parts of the state that have experienced very few farmland auctions lately.  The video above from the Casey auction clearly shows aggressive bidding from multiple bidders participating in the auction.  Guthrie County was unique in this time period, very few if any farms have been sold publicly over the past 24 months.  The situation likely exists in other counties around Iowa as well but good quality farmland has continued to bring strong interest statewide.

Mixed or combination farms with pasture, timber, CRP, water and non productive acres have continued to attract interest but not the strong interest 80%+ tillable land is attracting.  Mid range farms can still have a great day at auction and if you intend to sell one I think at this point it makes sense to move it to market sooner than later.
