What is DreamDirt Auctions?
DreamDirt is an Iowa Farmand Auction Company. We help people learn about selling farmland in Iowa by providing information on Iowa farmland sales. When I started DreamDirt Farm and Ranch Real Estate I didn’t put a lot of thought into the name. To be honest, I kind of came up with on a whim, didn’t like it, discarded it, then I tried to think of another and eventually one day just settled on “DreamDirt”. I had a lot of other decisions to make. Lots of paperwork and filings to worry about. It was more important to me to figure out “what it was” versus its “name” so I went with my dads old saying “good enough for government work” and trudged on. The name was important only in the sense I had to put something on all the paperwork I had to fill out which domain name to register. To my surprise, people loved the name. It really connected with them. It elicited pride, happiness, sentimental feelings and they all interpreted it in their own way! It was a win to me.

What Did I Want DreamDirt Auctions to be?
Have you ever been in one of those meetings when you are trying to name something or just brainstorming with your spouse names for your children or pets? I struggled with the name but I knew the tag line, or what I wanted it to be before I knew the name. I had been auctioneering for years already and I wanted my new farm real estate company to be “The Voice of Family Farms”. Get it? “The voice”. As an auctioneer, I used my voice a lot! I sold almost exclusively family farms, of which 90% of my clients were people that had inherited farmland. For a myriad of reasons they would sell the farmland. For some of them it was a financial Godsend. For some, they just didn’t know how to own farmland. For others, they just didn’t want to manage it, the agreements, the tenants or the taxes. Others didn’t want to accumulate capital gains taxes. Others yet had a different investment in mind. Sometimes it was motels, others vacation homes. There was always a story. These were my people. Many of them grew up poor but most succeeded in life and did good things. They all were thankful for the Midwestern work ethic they had and almost all of them shed a tear at some point in the process. They truly were my people and I developed a love of protecting them in the real estate process that is deeply rooted in me today. Not just protecting them but being there for everything.
The Voice of Family Farms
“The Voice of Family Farms” was born early in my career. Being the voice of something is much more than talking fast into a microphone. We do that but at the same time we do all of the advertising. We create the message. We deliver the message. We respond to the requests. We protect the sellers from harm and defend them from the ill intentioned. We bring them accurate information. We give them freedom to make proper choices. We shed any self interests. We are patient. We answer questions. We answer our phones! We are constantly moving forward and pushing as hard as we can to create a process that has as little stress as possible and creating exceptional outcomes for our clients. I know its cliché but it truly is an honor when a family trusts us with their most important asset. They trust us to do the best job. They trust us to be fair, honest, open and on their side! To protect them and shield them from the dangers they can’t even see. Our team is always excited to start a new campaign and see the results we achieve!
