History: Pocahontas County was formed in 1851.  Located in Northwest Iowa Pocahontas County is a highly farmed county because it has very little timber.  Farm real estate here follows the trend of Northwest Iowa price and therefore tends to be among the states leaders in farmland costs and prices.  Pocahontas County can be a very good farmland investment, there is a solid rental demographic and consequently higher farmland rents.  Investing or divesting land in Pocahontas County is an easy choice with high quality soils and large tracts of land.
