On September 25, 2019 our team hosted the Robert Burns Auction via our online platform, BidCapture. We, at DreamDirt, are extremely thankful Tom Buns and his family trusted us with the auction of their farmland!
The Land For Sale
This auction was conducted as an Timed Online Land Auction. The farm included 155 acres that had a CSR2 rating of 82.1. This high quality farm also included 2 Grain Bins (built in 1981), a 396 sq. ft garage and a 28 ft horizontal auger. The new buyer will assume landlord possession upon closing which is to be on, or before, October 25, 2019.

Auction Day
The Robert Buns Trust Farmland Auction was opened on our platform August 22, 2019. Initially the bidding took off like we’ve never seen! However, on sale, day things became a bit stagnant up until about 20 minutes to closing. That’s when the bids began flying in left and right!
Now, this may sound a bit frightening to some potential sellers out there – but fear not! Our seller, Tom Buns, came into our Mason City office around 1 PM the day of the sale. He was able to physically watch the sale with Auctioneer, Tom Bradley, the entire time and discuss any questions he had about the process, as well as discuss the bids coming in.
Once the seller had confirmed the sale, and achieved the price desired, it was very evident how relaxed he felt. Recently, a similar farm of 157 acres in Hancock County, Iowa sold for $6,600 an acre with a CSR2 of 75.3 – so we, along with the seller, are thrilled with the $8,900/acre results of this auction!
