Iowa Farmland Prices August 27th – Sept 2nd

Before we discuss monthly results for farmland prices, we need to cover the last week of August’s data and top-selling farms. From the table below, you will see that there are 29 land auction results and a total of 3,344.86 acres of farmland sold in Iowa from August 27th through September 2nd. The average price per acre of farmland from these land auction results is $12,684.52/acre and $171/CSR2 point for 80% or more tillable farms in Iowa.

Top Selling Farmland Auctions in Iowa Sioux County $26,000/acre

During the last week of August, Sioux County, IA was the highest selling farm with 80.29 acres selling at $26,000/acre. Runner-up went to 33.83 acres in Dubuque County, IA that sold for $23,200/acre by the auction method and had a 66.2 CSR2 which totals $350.45/CSR2. The third place goes to Ida County, IA 240 acres sold for $21,000/acre on both tracts of 200 acres and 40 acres.

Number of Acres Sold in Iowa During August 2022

If you take a look at the graph to the right you will see an increase in farmland acres sold at auction from July to August. We are rolling into a busy time of harvest and land auctions! There are several upcoming auctions in September and many more to be added from October – December. In August, we saw 1,0344.14 acres sold by auction. For the month of August, the price per acre average is $13,257.46 which is more than the average price in July. The average price per acre a year ago was $12,204.27 in August of 2021. Price Per CSR2 Point Iowa Farmland

The price per CSR2 point increased from July and is currently at $170.67/CSR2 point. Last August it was $153.57/CSR2. This value is used to help calculate what your farm is worth.
