Iowa Farmland Prices September 24th – 30th

Before we discuss monthly results for farmland prices, we need to cover the last week of September’s data and top-selling farms. From the table below, you will see that there are 31 land auction results and a total of 2,768.71 acres of farmland sold in Iowa from September 24th through September 30th. The average price per acre of farmland from these land auction results is $13,730.65/acre and $179.37/CSR2 point for 80% or more tillable farms in Iowa.

Top Selling Farmland Auctions in Iowa Greene County $20,600/acre

During the last week of September Greene County, IA was the highest-selling farm with 80 acres selling at $20,600/acre. Runner-up went to 98.1 acres in Linn County, IA that sold for $20,200/acre by the auction method and had a 92.3 CSR2 which totals $218.85/CSR2. The third place goes to Polk County, IA 35 acres which we sold for $19,450/acre. You can view the Polk County auction here which we conducted.

Number of Acres Sold in Iowa During September 2022

If you take a look at the graph to the right you will see an increase in farmland acres sold at auction from August to September. This Fall will be a busy time for land auctions in Iowa. In September, we saw 10,989.87 acres sold by auction. We expect to see even more acres sold in October and November. Average Price Per Acre Land in Iowa

For the month of September, the price per acre average of land in Iowa is $13,088.87, a slight decrease from prices in August. A year ago, the average price per acre was $11,310.17 in September of 2021. Could this be because of rising interest rates? Price Per CSR2 Point Iowa Farmland

The price per CSR2 point decreased from August and is currently at $168.87/CSR2 point. Which is still incredibly higher than it was a year ago at $144.27/CSR2. This value is used to help calculate what your farm is worth.
