Midwest Farmland Prices February Sales Report

Understanding Midwest Farmland Values:

Creighton University Rural Mainstreet Index (RMI) – February 2025 Update

According to the February 2025 Creighton Rural Mainstreet Index (RMI), farmland prices in the Midwest remain strong despite ongoing economic uncertainty. The overall RMI for the 10-state region, which includes Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota, Missouri, and Illinois, fell slightly to 38.2 in February, down from 42.5 in January.

RMI Outlook on Farmland Prices

  • Positive Factors: Stable interest rates, continued demand for high-quality farmland, and limited inventory have helped maintain farmland prices at historically high levels.

  • Challenges: Bank CEOs surveyed expressed concerns about rising input costs and potential softness in the agricultural economy later in 2025. However, farmland prices have shown resilience, and most bankers anticipate stable to slightly higher prices through mid-2025.
