If you’ve been following along and reading our weekly farmland sales reports, you’ve noticed that April has been a busy month for farmland auctions in Iowa! More than average busy actually! Studying the graph above, you’ll notice that this year there was 5,694.46 acres that sold in April 2022 which is 2,983.10 acres more than last year! That’s about a 110% increase from last year April 2021 to this year! Typically, farmland auctions in Iowa start to slow down during the crop season May – August however we’re seeing May farmland auctions pop up and we have the following farm auctions coming up!

Average Price Per Acre Iowa Farmland Auctions
The average price per acre for farmland in Iowa is currently at $13,812.62. That’s a 41% INCREASE from April 2021 average of $9,798.63/acre price. The graph to the right left shows a steady increase in farmland prices since the beginning of the year. As a farmland auction company in Iowa, we are expecting these values to continue to increase or hold steady. Now is a good time to sell land if you’ve been thinking of doing so!

Average Price per CSR2 Point Iowa Farmland Prices
In April we saw an average of $178.66/CSR2 in Iowa. Similar to average price per acre and amount of acres sold this is a big increase from April 2021 average price per CSR2 of $146.38/CSR2.
